ESTATES SURVEYOR

ESTATES SURVEYOR  (Part-time, Interim Consultant)

Birmingham-based

Part-time (3 days per week)  on 4-6 months contract

Up to £50,000 per annum (pro rata)

We are looking for an Estates Surveyor, on an interim consultancy basis, who will support the charity in developing a new asset strategy to inform our future development.

The ideal candidate will be RICS qualified and preferably have knowledge of issues in older people’s housing and/or social care environments.

The Role

  • Review the findings of recent stock condition surveys and develop a costed repairs and maintenance schedule compatible with our current Planned Preventive Maintenance system to allow updates and revised forecasts to be made.
  • Undertake a financial options appraisal of the current portfolio e.g. repair, redevelopment, divestment etc., taking into account other strategic considerations of the charity.
  • Define the most appropriate opportunities and routes for delivery, including initial market testing e.g. possibility for JVs, finance. The findings and recommendations will be presented to Board.
  • Support the Board in scoping its longer term asset strategy aligned to organisational mission, vision and values.

The Candidate

  • Qualified Chartered Surveyor with post qualification experience
  • An ability to think strategically
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels
  • Effective project management skills
  • Interest in the needs of older people
