Trustees

As a charity, BCOP is governed by a Board of Trustees. The key responsibility of each Trustee, along with the others, is to hold the charity in trust for current and future beneficiaries.

The Board of Trustees approve the vision, mission statement and ethos/values of the organisation.  They are responsible for setting high level strategic objectives ensuring the financial viability and regulatory compliance of the charity, for approving business plans and seeking assurance that agreed objectives are being met by the Executive through monitoring reports of operational performance.

We’re recruiting new trustees.  Does your passion match ours?

We’re looking for people who are keen to use their skills and experience, whether professional or personal, to make sure BCOP can continue to support older people for generations to come.  We’re particularly interested to hear from you if have direct experience of the issues facing our service users.  No prior experience of sitting on a Board is necessary as we offer a full induction and training.  You do need to have the time to fully participate as a Board Member – this equates to about 1 day a month.

Our Pioneering Spirit

BCOP has been a pioneer in caring for older people since its foundation over 70 years ago – developing the first ‘meals-on-wheels’ scheme and being the first to offer organised daytrips and holidays to older people.  More recently, we have been leading the way in providing Animal Assisted Therapy to our care home residents through our on-site pet farms, and sensory stimulation through ‘Sensory Street’ – an on-site replica post-war high street, which was featured on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme earlier this year.  We strive to ensure our services adapt to meet the changing needs of older people and society.

Our Services

We offer not only nursing care, with dementia provision, in our three care homes, but also independent and supported housing and additional services such as welfare guidance and a handyperson scheme.

This position is not remunerated but reasonable expenses (e.g.travel) will be paid
